"Okay, well how would you like for me to be your mentor? And be honest," Sparrowtail asked and wondered what Icepaw's reaction will be. She'll speak a lie because she doesn't want to get in trouble with 'the Deputy'... Sparrowtail thought. She sighed then looked at Icepaw again.

Sparrowtail grinned and said, "And you will listen to me. Now, back to the fighting. The first move I want to teach you is the 'Leap and Hold' the name is basically the move. This one helps if you're up against a cat that is bigger than you. What you do is Leap onto your opponent's back then dig your claws into them and Hold on. It's pretty simple so I'm gonna let you try it on me but as you know claws must be sheathed." Sparrowtail braced herself for Icepaw's attack.

Icepaw nodded and then leapt at her and landed at her side. Then she turned quickly and jumped on her back and grabbed her scruff lightly. That okay? She asked through a mouthful of fur.

"Very good," Sparrowtail said then she lowered her rear to the ground. After she gathered all her strength in her hind legs she bucked up and threw Icepaw off.

Cherrystar had been watching from the shadows. She smiled.
I made a good decision... it looks like I found a cat who can put up with Icepaw... and a cat Icepaw can put up with. She thought happily. It's moments like this that makes being a leader so great.

"You've got to be ready for anything," Sparrowtail replied, grinning. That's when she noticed a familiar scent, it was Cherrystar's. Her eyes darted around the clearing and hoped Icepaw didn't notice so that she wouldn't get distracted. "That move I just did when I bucked you off my back is my own personal move," Sparrowtail said proudly. "You gather all your strength in your hind legs and kick up. It's a move that the apprentices I've had have always had trouble with, but this move is also very beneficial since not many cats know it." Sparrowtail looked around the clearing once more then asked, "Do you want to go back to camp now and we can catch some prey on our way back or do you want to learn one more move?"

Icepaw jumped around in circles like an excited kit, Move move move!! She burst out laughing at herself. She stopped suddenly when she caught Cherrystars scent. She stopped and felt anger boil inside her.

Cherrystar was positive the cats knew she was there. She stepped out of the shadows.
"Great move Sparrowtail, great work Icepaw." She complimented them, sitting down carefully to watch at the edge of the clearing.

Sparrowtail glanced at Cherrystar after Icepaw's remark then said "Want to show Cherrystar the move you just learned? then I'll try it on you and you can do the move I did." She sucked in a breath then slowly let it out so that her temper wouldn't flare if Icepaw disrespected her leader.
